1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

WARNING

Securely support the vehicle so that there is no danger of it falling over.

2. Elevate:

  • Rear wheel

NOTE:

Place the vehicle on a suitable stand so that the rear wheel is elevated.

3. Remove:

  • Rear brake caliper

NOTE:

Do not depress the brake pedal when removing the rear wheel.

4. Loosen:

  • Drive chain adjusting locknut
  • Drive chain adjusting bolt

5. Remove:

  • Rear wheel axle nut
  • Rear wheel axle
  • Drive chain pullers
  • Collars
  • Rear wheel

NOTE:

Push the rear wheel forward and remove the drive chain from the rear wheel sprocket.

Disassembling the rear wheel

1. Remove:

  • Oil seals
  • Wheel bearings Refer to "DISASSEMBLING THE FRONT WHEEL" on page 4-8.
