Installing the water pump

Water pump assembly "1"

NOTE:
Align the projection "a" on the impeller shaft
with the slit "b" on the camshaft sprocket bolt.

1. Eliminate:
Combustion chamber carbon deposits
(with a rounded scraper)
NOTE:
Do not use a sharp instrument to avoid damaging
or scratching:
Spark plug bore threads
Valve seats
2. Check:
Cylinder head
Damage/scratches Replace.
Cylinder head water jacket

Checking the cooling system
1. Remove:
Side covers
Upper side cowlings
Refer to "GENERAL CHASSIS" on page 4-1.
2. Check:
Radiator "1"
Radiator inlet hose "2"
Radiator outlet hose "3"
Coolant reservoir hose "4"
Water pump breather hose "5"
Cracks/damage → Replace.
Refer to "RADIATOR" on page 6-1 ...
Checking the clutch housing
1. Check:
Clutch housing dogs "1"
Damage/pitting/wear
Deburr the clutch
housing dogs or replace the clutch housing.
NOTE:
Pitting on the clutch housing dogs will cause erratic
clutch operation.
